Keep watch and pray

Mark 14:38

This is the only time that Jesus refers to Peter as Simon, after he has changed his name… Peter’s going back to some old patterns.

The response here that Jesus gives us is to “keep watch and pray, so that you would not give into temptation.”

Were they sleeping cause the Passover meal? Cause they were tired? It’s possible they were unaware what was going on around Jesus. The evil one wants to kill, steal, and destroy. Evil wants you to believe that you are condemned. (see Romans 8:1)

Questions

  • is “watching” and “praying” actually a spiritual tool for offense, instead of defense within this “war”?
  • Is there a willpower in talking to God?
  • How does prayer move the spiritual realm? Is our communication and words to God spiritually more significant than our feelings and groanings?
  • What power does words have?

God is all-powerful and sovereign… How does our words move God?

Do our words actually move us?
